This place is cool. The coffee is awesome, and made just right-- even the plain-jane blends in the carafes. They also offer some high-octane blends like Irish Coffee, and they do not skimp on the Bush Mills. The baked goods looked delicious, but I didn't try any. Still, they kept tempting me from across the room. The owner was there and joked around with us a bit. Seems like a cool guy.

While vacationing in Hilton Head, I found Java Joes! Great gourmet coffee, sandwiches and pastries!!! Highly recommend it over French Kiss Bakery.

The atmosphere is nice- but the coffee is just average. The prices are a little too high in my opinion. A frap costs me over 6 dollars! I have also had an iced white mocha here and it was nothing to rave over. The line can get really long in the mornings if you don't get there early. So if you're going keep that in mind!

Great iced coffee, lots of options for drinks, food, pastries, & even booze. Their outdoor patio is tops for catching up with a friend (& even bringing your dog along!), & their inside space is large & air conditioned, perfect for working from "home." So why so few stars? The people who work here are just so apathetic it's unbelievable. They're not rude, necessarily, but it's obvious that they can't be bothered to give their customers the time of day beyond preparing their food. They're often not at the front counter when you walk into the shop, so you have to wait for them to decide to come out & check to see if they have customers. They're often found sitting at the front bar, complaining or doing something non-work-related. They're just... not friendly, & it really puts a damper on the experience. I like Java Joe's a lot, really, & I understand that in a tourist town with very few coffee shop options, they can get away with being totally blase because there's nowhere else for people to go. But that doesn't keep me from wishish they'd try a little harder to act like they care.

Recently someone published a research article about the customer service vs. the quality of coffee and I find it quite interesting. Research say that people who purchase coffee at Starbucks care less about the coffee and more about the service. However, when customers buy coffee at these types of café's, people tend to care more about the quality of their coffee and less about the service. I thought that was very interesting. Anyhow, the interior of Java Joe's is pretty cool, they have a lot of local artists who hang their art on the walls within the café. The store has a little glass display of treats and a list of their coffees. No, I do not think Starbucks has the best coffee, usually I prefer local roasters we have in Atlanta. They make an amazing blend. However, the coffee here at Java Joe's is quite good, it did have a very good flavor, but their desserts are lacking. Their cherry turnover was good, just way too sweet as they load it in sugar. [Review #325] (Eighty Fifth Review of 2015)

I'm just gonna start out sayin I had an iced mocha and a bagel. the bagel was probably the best half. not to bash this place, but the amount of money I paid was not worth the drink I got. Java Joes is your classic over-priced coffee for tourists joint. I could drive to Starbucks and buy a grande size, cheaper, and enjoy the taste much more than what I had a Java joes. if you want to shell out some money for a less than average drink, this is exactly where to go

Local coffee shop close by The Beach House hotel we visited on vacation. Atmosphere was kinda cool and eclectic and they have a decent sized outdoor patio. We had all enjoyed a little too much sun the day before so we enjoyed the powerful AC inside and caught up on some work with the shop's wifi. I do have to say that if your a coffee snob this place might not be for you. They have quite a selection of frufru drinks but their plain coffee was a little weak and the almond milk latte I had had a burnt flavor. Their coconut dipped macaroon on the other hand was very yummy and their smoothie list looked promising. May have to try one the next time I'm in town but don't plan on being back for just the coffee.

This is a really good place if you want milk with weak coffee... And don't order any kind of food. The girls behind the bar will make you feel like the biggest inconvenience and when your order is finally ready they yell at you like you are an animal. It is not too hard to be friendly and if you can't find it in your soul to offer some friendliness to your customers who are paying your bills then maybe you should consider switching jobs.

Terrible service. Ordered water and two sandwiches and it took over 30 min to receive with only a few people in the actual cafe. They had poor communication and lackedany sense of apology or effort to make things right

One of my favorite coffee spots in the country, period. Friendly/fast service, great coffee, awesome patio seating and even top notch bfast treats!

The first time I went the coffee/latte was stale and weak. I went again and the same thing. The Java is terrible. The owner should be embarrassed. Go anywhere else for coffee.

Asked for a Splenda in my cappuccino and the counter worker said "oh that's on you, we don't add that you do" ... Seems like Java Joe's team needs some customer service training since other highly regarded coffee providers tend to be interested in being nice to the customers and I've never heard "it's on you" at Peets or Starbucks. Didn't go back.

Nice menu, and food looks tasty. My wife ordered a hot mocha and I ordered a Bailey's mocha. Both were luke warm. Before ordering the girl behind the bar (far from barrista) yelled out for us to order, as we were still looking at the menu. Her boyfriend sat in the cafe playing his music out loud on his phone, drowning out the cafe's music. Cool beans... I can't recommend this place. Go to the local McDonald's for better drinks. At least their mocha are hot.

I didn't try their lunch food, but their pastries and coffee were pretty good. Their coffee was out so you can get refills and doctor it with cocoa or cinnamon. I believe they have wifi. The big surprise was how late they are open and how many alcoholic beverages they serve. At the very least, it would be fun to learn/try all the espresso cocktails to make at home. Plenty of seating, tv, not a bad place to go especially if you're with a shopper.

The double shot latte w hazelnut had NO Cofee flavor. The sticky bun is opposed to be flaky not like a dinner roll. Not coming back.

Passed this coffee shop a number of times during our week in Hilton Head and finally decided to stop in one day on our way to Coligny beach. My wife was in the mood for an iced coffee but after noticing their smoothie selection opted for the raspberry smoothie instead. I wasn't planning on ordering anything but the chipotle chicken sandwich on their extensive sandwich menu caught my eye so we decided to get one for a snack on the beach. We shared both items and agreed that the smoothie was very tasty and hit the spot and sandwich was excellent as well. My only complaint (and the reason I'm not giving this review 5 stars) was the large styrofoam box that the sandwich came in. The box was about 3x bigger than the actual sandwich and was cumbersome to carry to the beach. Many restaurants seem to insist on doing this these days but I much prefer a sandwich wrapped in paper and possibly put in a brown bag. Not only are they easier to carry but easier to recycle as well. Please consider more convenient and earth friendly packaging for your to go items!

The baristas text and don't seem to care at all for friendly customer service. I watched them play on their phones for a minute or so while I just stood there until they decided they were ready to ask what I wanted. Also overpriced. The service I got and the amount of time I spent standing and waiting in line is soo not worth ever coming back to again
